01. Securing Livestock Germplasm and Research on New Material
  • To create new growth engine, Agenda 15 envisions the future and direction of biotechnology. It takes aims at the development of high-value transgenic animals for the agro-medicine and commercialization, sequencing of livestock whole-genome, establishment of application technology system of genomic information for the industrial application, and at the establishment of national proprietary rights on animal genetic resources.
Securing Livestock Germplasm and Research on New Material
  • Agenda 15 aims to develop transgenic animals for the xenotransferable biological organs, for biomedical applications, and for the animal models of human disease and a production and dissemination of cloned elite service dogs for public interests. It also aims to discover useful genes related to economic traits and bio-resources using livestock and microbial genome sequence information for the construction of industrial application system and enhancement of technology development for the sustainable collocation, evaluation, and molecular characterization for the value change on animal genetic resources.
  • genda 15 includes following three programs to achieve its purpose. Program 50 is focusing on the technical development of high-value new materials using transgenic animals. Program 51 includes production of whole-genome sequences for major livestock and development of their industrial applications. Program 52 is performed to develop technologies for collection, conservation, and evaluation of animal genetic resources at national level.

The main contents of researches in each Program are:
Program 50
Includes development of pharmaceutical proteins from transgenic pig, production of xenotransferable biological organs from transgenic cloned pig, and production and dissemination of cloned elite service dogs for public interests.
Program 51
Includes the reference genome mapping of livestock and database development for useful genes related to economic traits, bio-marker, bio-resources for the establishment of industrial application system.
Program 52
Includes the establishment of national strategies for efficient management of animal genetic resources through the researches on collection, conservation, evaluation, and sustainable utilization of them.
