On-Farm Technology
- The overall target of this field, On-Farm Technology, is to enhance the competitiveness of agriculture and invigorate the rural economy. The research activities in this field, developed as a practical subject reflecting the users' demands, comprise the following agenda.
The development of stable food production technology concerns the breeding of superior strains of chief crops. This saves production cost, increases farmland efficiency, and improves the self-sufficiency of crops by establishing overseas agricultural networks for stable crop imports. The increased competitiveness of our agro-livestock products lies in the development of safe, high-quality products that can compete in the global market, in the breeding of new varieties of horticultural and medicinal crops, in the development of environmentally friendly agricultural technologies for the production of safe agricultural products, and in the development of technologies for utilizing and producing forages widely. We will develop and supply the following technologies to the various fields: nutrient management technologies to reduce fertilizer use, new pesticides developed from natural bio-resources, treatment of animal waste and the development of renewable, environmentally-friendly and organic agricultural methods toward the sustainable growth of our agriculture. Also, we intend to develop energy-saving technologies by developing renewable bio-energy and eventually contribute to reinvigorating the economy.
We will be on the cutting edge in the field of advanced agricultural technology, satisfying consumers and producers through the development and supply of practical on-farm technologies.
