In recent years, the development of the livestock industry in Korea is on the rise. Livestock industry, however, is facing a challenging period due to the expansion of the open livestock market. Furthermore, appropriate livestock technologies are required to overcome environmental changes, such as increase in feed cost due to higher international grain prices and climate change. Sustainable improvement of breeding stocks and security of genetic diversity will ease customer’s concerns about quality and safety issue in animal products.
RDA-National Institute Animal Science (NIAS) has three agenda composed of 13 programs to solve these problems in the fields and prepare for future obstacles.
